CVFC Spring Soccer Session

Hi Spring League Coaches,

I imagine that most of you received some version of the email below from Cal North Soccer.  In it we learn that Cal North has suspended "games, practices, friendlies, clinics, and any other activities that would cause our players, families, officials and staff to gather in close proximity" through April 15th.

This means that Spring Soccer is postponed until 4/15, including both practices and games.

Doing the math it is possible for us to hold our full 8 week Spring season holding games on each Saturday from 4/18 - 6/6.  This will allow us to complete the Spring season before school lets out for the Summer.  If the suspension is in fact released on 4/15 then I have hopes that we can hold our Spring rec season.  However, if the suspension is extended any longer than 4/15, we will have to cancel the season all together.

Please expect to hear from me in early April with more information.

President, CVYSL

The Cal North Board of Directors has closely monitored information from Governor Newsom, State and local county health officials, and the CDC regarding the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Following today’s recommendations from US Youth Soccer and US Soccer, heightened travel concerns, and with the health and welfare of our soccer community in mind, Cal North is suspending all soccer activities and sanctioned events beginning immediately through April 15, 2020.

This includes all league games, practices, friendlies, clinics, and any other activities that would cause our players, families, officials and staff to gather in close proximity. The suspension includes the postponement of the upcoming Cal North State Cup, Presidents Cup and CRL events that were originally scheduled for March 21, 22, and April 4 and 5.

The Board understands that this is an unprecedented action, and it is not one that we would take without considerable thought. With the ongoing acceleration of the Coronavirus cases in communities from which our soccer families reside, the Board takes this action in the interest of ensuring the health and safety of the soccer community, as well as that of the community-at-large.

We continue to assess the situation daily and we will update our leagues and clubs as more details become available. We would like to thank our Cal North family for your ongoing support as we manage our programming given the current health and travel environment. The safety and security of our soccer community are, and always will be, our highest priority.

Thank you,

Cal North Board of Directors
